Eleanor O’Rourke – Marine Institute, Ireland

Eleanor O’Rourke is the Oceanographic Services Manager at the Marine Institute, Ireland responsible for the Irish ocean observing infrastructure, delivery of ocean modelling services, ocean energy and marine climate change. She oversees the Marine Institute’s involvement in a number of EU projects under H2020, Interreg and JPI funding programmes as well as providing technical support to local and national policy makers regarding climate adaptation.
After a PhD looking at the effect of topography of Thermohaline adjustment at Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, Liverpool (now National Oceanography Centre, Liverpool) Eleanor has worked in large scale science management and coordination within consultancy, the Swedish Meteorological & Hydrological Institute and the World Climate Research Programme’s (WCRP) Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) project before joining the Marine Institute in 2015.
